So far I've heard of more great coaxials (~3:00) than chinooks.

mhm. Well this is also based on what I would do, and since I'm not going to nationals apparently what I would do isn't always correct ^.^

Well.
Knowing that California has a known 2:25 time, and that time I'm going to assume will be upped before nationals, and knowing that other states may also have impressive ones that weren't mentioned on this forum, I'd say a 2:40 time not including bonus will be king pin at nationals.

Note: this is entirely speculation.

I remember how last year I had my flight at States and then checked out the Heli forum, and was supprized to hear from some random guy for a different state how he has heard that top team in NY (us) got a 3+ minute helicopter. In reality, the flight was only 2:25. Thats what happens on Scioly often times, rumors, rumors :)

ikr
so thats why everything is speculation. Its what I would think given the information is true- which we don't always know is so

before or after the 3x bonus? If before, that's crazy good, if after, it's still really good for a chinook.

Must be before, based on his previous comment about getting 2:10 without the bonus. Phew, that's intense.

Maybe I might, even though it wouldn't be worth much compared to danyalukin's. It's not like I have anything to lose...

So you may or may not see in the near-ish future my chinook in the image gallery as an example of what not to do

Since SciO is about creative thinking and discovery, I wont post pictures until after nationals. Coming up with a design was extremely fun for me, and I dont want to deprive others from a chance to do the same as opposed to just trying to copy. If I post pictures, I would really ruin the fun. Besides, even if those who try to use my designs medal or something, how much pride would they take in a medal? Not much, which really destroys the points.

Bottom line... I will post pictures, but after a fair, untainted competition in Orlando :)

I hope my thinking makes sense.

I'm not touchy at all. I dont feel like sharing my ideas would affect me in a ny negative way. More for the sake of keeping things fun, clean, and competitive! mrsteven, are you going to nats?

I am not... *sigh* although my team did not qualify, I went last year to U Mad to see the campus and watch the helicopter flights (which I have a sheet somewhere with all the times because I watched nearly all of them... cannot find it now its bothering me...)
I would go this year but I'm from Chicago... and its in Florida... not really realistic to go down for a day and come back up

I'd like to know the top bundle of times though. I want to gauge myself to the best teams in the nation to see how I measure up. And designs, those are always fascinating to see what others did in response to the same problem

I might know some people who will be timing, could ask them for their data... What are your duration expectations, given a 20ft gym, per say?
