Ohio, hands down.

Why? Ohio's best teams are better than other state's best teams (look at results from nationals) and Ohio's next tier are still able to compete (look at the gap is the state scores on the previous page, it's not a drop-off you're seeing as much as there are a ton of teams that are good at multiple events, hence unless you are the juggernaut and get one of those really low scores, you are competing for every place you get).

Other good states include NY, Cali, and Pennsylvania, but to put a state like Washington ahead of Ohio is to ignore results.

Ohio's champions aren't just born, they are forged by competing against and beating tons of other good schools in Ohio tournaments. Hence, top to bottom Ohio is the most competitive state, and judging by recent results including national tournaments and invitationals that draw schools from multiple states, also the most-talented state.

well, Alabama is home to 136 teams; a solid number.

In Alabama the Division B leader is the same nearly every year: Auburn Jr. High School. But AJH has never placed above 15th.
& the second Div. B team AL sends generally places in the lower half.

In Divison C. The state level is more competitive, but at nationals the teams seem to be in the lower 20.

Well There's a difference between "NATIONAL COMPETITIVENESS" and "STATE COMPETITIVENESS

so there are many reasons as to why this may be a question.
Although Ohio is home to some of the best teams in the country, there are many factors that determine how "Competitive" a state is.

P.S: Ohio does not have the most national titles.

It won't be long until they do though. I don't know about division B, but Solon's high school team looks better than ever this year. I don't see Solon B missing a chance at having 5 straight national wins either.

Solon high school took 1st and 2nd at Wright State invitational a couple weeks ago, and it was easily national level competition.

WA took 4th in C division in 02 and 03 and 3rd in 05, and took 4th and then 2nd in 08 / 09.

So historically, we have done quite well, yes.
