I googled the poem, and found this: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3281485

It's some sort of forum, but if you scroll down, the guy with the Honda avatar has the poem in his sig.

I've got it!

It's a mnemonic for memorizing the geologic time table:

Cenozoic, Mesozoic, Paleozoic, Proterozoic, Quaternary, Tertiary, Cretaceous, Jurassic, Triassic, Permian, Pennsylvanian, Missisippian, Devonian, Silurian, Ordovician, Cambrian

Maybe it's referring to gneissisnice.

Edit: Apparently the author is Stephen Jay Gould. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Jay_Gould

True, if it's refering to fossils, it is impossibly vague. BUT, if you search for Stephen Jay Gould on this forum, the only person who's mentioned it is danger will robinson.

I guess I protect her then.

Why is Cheap Meat italicized? I'll look into it..

On a very different topic, there are a lot of people in science with Gould as a surname. There's Stephen Jay Gould of course, and then there's Benjamin A. Gould, an astronomer, Gordon Gould, a physicist, John Gould, an Ornithologist, Elizabeth Gould, a professor of psychology, Carl Freylinghausen Gould, an architect, even Augustus Addison Gould, a conchologist. There practically a Gould for every SO event.

Now back on topic.

Umm... has anyone else figured out what this poem is about? I just figured it out, but there's no way of wording it as to not get banned from the mods and have this website blacklisted by the school's websense.... :?

Yeah, that's why the assassinator told us not to google it.

No, not just that. Look up all the words you don't know, and you will see what I mean.

I suddenly hate this clue and just lost all respect for the assassin.

Aww I missed being an officer :(

Anyway, I recognize that poem. It was quoted in Wonderful Life by Steven Jay Gould, a book about fossils. I did a book report on it last summer for APES. And yeah, it's used a mnemonic for the different periods and eras, Amerikestrel is right about that.
Maybe I mentioned in on the forums somewhere. Perhaps it's targeting me?

Why? S.J. Gould wrote it, not John Gould.
