Problem is you have a decent amount of time to study for events between now and nationals. Also their are 23 events to nullify that one bad place.

The national schedule isn't divided into even and odd. It is grouped by team number with most events grouped 1-20, 21-40, and 41-60. Occasionally events are divided up into 1-10, 11-20, etc. Additionally, it is very easy to predict your team number from the beginning of the year. Team numbers are assigned according to the number of teams that compete in your state, and these relative positions do not change much. So, really you have no reason to complain because if you are a team that consistently qualifies for nationals (Troy), you have the entire year to train up someone else.

I really don't see what is so important about your team numbers. I wish I had been able to get one , but alas I didn't make it to nationals

We always had our team numbers in the 40's-50's. It didn't really faze any of us veteran competitors, but one of the freshman asked me a couple years ago if they purposely put the not so good states farther down the list to prevent them from doing well.

But my opinion, is that team numbers never played a big factor in our competitions

Sure, I think there might be problems if you prepare for an event at nats from day one and find out there is a conflict, but IMHO, i don't think thats a very wise strategy. If anything, you need to focus on the invitational/regional/state competition coming up first, then take that knowledge and build on it for nationals. That way if you find out about a conflict, i think it would be a lot less stressful.

Team number at nationals have potential to cause problems on a team; however, nothing as drastic as what sciencegeek100 said should happen. The top scores are from 150-350, and seeing that at most an event would cost 61 points, the fact that a team would stray away from the top 10 with one bad event doesn't seem too true. Plus, top teams most likely will be watching for conflicts as to train new people, making a drop at worst in the 30's or 40's. MHO

If the problem is indeed scheduling, then every team should/would be affected equally. It's just that individual team members may do different events.
