There are a LOT of satellites in orbit now. (Here's a list of all the geosynchronous ones.) But knowing all of them isn't really necessary and would probably make your head explode. For this event, do some research on the ones in the A-Train. Also learn a lot about LANDSAT, as it's very frequently used for tests.

It's kind of a trick question (or a stupid one, depending on how you look at these things). They ask about the net release of carbon for the life of the stand of trees; since all of the carbon in the trees came from the air (not counting the trivial amount that would have been contained in the original seeds), and all of it is released when they burn, the net is zero. Making you show work is a little over the top, IMO, especially since they don't seem to be expecting you to calculate how much of the biomass will actually become CO2.

Hi,
My event leader hasn't given me the rule sheet for this event and this is my first time doing it. I checked soinc.org, but didn't find it. Could someone update the rule sheet for me? that would be awesome!
Thanks

You have to get a copy of the rules from your team, it can't be posted online.

actually you can scan them onto a computer and upload that, or copy the words onto a document and upload that.

You can, except that it's illegal.

Yes, due to copyright laws, you should not post rules online nor should you look at rules online and accept them as the correct rules.
