Cuz some people make very bad binders.
You need to have a good binder to do well at competition anyway; you simply can't succeed with just a field guide. It's good to have a backup, though, just in case.

I have not done this event, but I have done fossils, and I am pretty sure, it is going to be a lot like fossils.
With speed being very important, because a lot of the competitions consist of stations.
Two main components are ID, and general knowledge.
