-Correctamundo. And that\'s what we\'re gonna be. We\'re gonna be cool. Now, I\'m gonna count to three, and when I count three, you let go of your mouse, and back away from the keyboard. But when you do it, you do it cool. Ready? One... two... three.

Re: Circular to Linear Task
I'm having a little trouble thinking of a linear motion that would be easy to incorporate. I wouldn't think rolling a ball down a ramp would count, but how about depressing a push-button switch? It's pretty small-scale, but it is linear. What do you think?

Re: Circular to Linear Task
I would say that fits the task.
I am wondering, since it says no gears can be used, does that mean you could not use a motor with any gear reduction?

Does a wheel (or a non toothed circle) count as a gear? I don't think so, but just making sure.

Re: Circular to Linear Task
For my two cents, I would say yes, gearmotors are out, and no, wheels are not gears.

Re: Circular to Linear Task
^ Agreed
Do you think the object has to make a full rotation in order for it to be considered circular, or could it just be headed for a circular motion?

Re: Circular to Linear Task
I wouldn't think it would need to make a revolution - any motion around a fixed point would count, IMO.

Re: Circular to Linear Task
If it doesn't mesh with anything else, I don't think it's technically a gear. Definitely submit a clarification, though, since it's pretty gray.bhsscioly wrote:Does a water wheel with spokes that marbles are falling on count as a gear?
