Nationals: Campus Dorms or Hotels?

For those of you going to Nationals, are you staying in the campus dorms or are your teams staying in hotels? What do you think the benefits of one over the other are?

Residence halls will be assigned as follows:
Illinois Street –middle schools/early arrivals
Florida Avenue – high schools
Busey-Evans – high school; no wheelchair accessibility

Most likely there's cable if you bring one.

I'm definitely a fan of the dorms. The past nationals I've been to (back to Indiana), we've taken dorms when they're available (Indiana and GW if I remember correctly). It makes the experience a bit more special in my opinion. Plus, there are just slightly fewer distractions as everyone is a Scio person. You can't swim if there is no pool (and swimming takes time which could be used for studying - I say this as a swimmer...). At Indiana, the dorm had a room which my team took over. Hotels don't usually have common rooms that you can work in, and we pretty much had an entire (small) building at GW to ourselves. As others have mentioned, it is also fair bit cheaper.

Our team has found that the cheapest, and nicest was cabins at a campsite. At Juniata, where there was like, one hotel, we found a campsite with two massive cabins, I think they held 60 and 30 people. And that early in the season the were really cheap. We did the same thing in Bloomington, only these cabins slept four, and had all the amenities of a hotel room plus a waterfall and fresh air.

You've nailed it, I think. We're staying in the dorms because of the convenience as well as the expense, and I feel that it's more exciting to stay on campus with your entire team right next to you. Last year, we had to occupy hotel rooms and hallways when we wanted to work on events, which was kind of fun in a strange way, but the accessibility of common areas is definitely preferable.
