haha, our teammates who did it last year told us "oh that was a hard test, study proxies"
so we studied proxies. and all the proxies on the test, we had no clue what they were, as we never saw it before. We didn't realize it was the same test until a person who did it last year was like "was there a guy holding a gas hydrate on the test"? and we're like "yeah....."

anyway, that test was so hard, I still don't know what BEE means.....

I would like a trial study, but not this event. It just sounds weird.

au contraire, paleo.
i was a rocks and minerals junkie, and while i wait out my beloved fossils' last year, having this next year could be a nice transition to r & m in 2011-2012.

Deep-sea drilling...yippee. (Note the sarcasm.) To me, this event sounds like a less interesting version of DP/Oceanography. I really don't think that there'd be many people actually interested in the subject, and as such, personally I don't think it should become an event. I'd like an event to do with oceans and marine environments, but definitely not this one.

Y'know, now that you sort of mention it, it would be cool to have an event about "current events" in science, but the more I think about it, the worse the idea becomes. I mean, the idea of it is great and all, but it would probably be run poorly (especially at Regionals) and become more of a trivia contest and everyone would hate it (sort of like Pentathlon: decent idea, bad execution, people start to hate it).

to be honest, i'm really pigeon about when i was born...i just missed out on fermi questions, and after taking a practice nationals test and getting almost 95% within 25% of the correct answer. i hope they bring that back at least as a trial, or an event close to that. if it doesnt, my random factness will never be used in scioly :O

you know how my name is quizbowl13? its cause i'm actually not that bad at it, varsity quizbowl is pretty freakin awesome (i'm even gonna be on the challenge next year :D :D ) and random facts is pretty much the basics for this event, as well as being able to guess and estimate. read the wiki, paleo.
