lol good question! The question was actually: "A lake with greater than 25 SPU's is considered to be colored. What does SPU stand for?" and we had no idea :p

so I just searched and found this: http://www.pearl.maine.edu/glossary/misc/color.htm
It stands for "Standard Platinum Units"

I was also disappointed that our invitationals test had essentially nothing on groundwater (ONE fill in the blank vocabulary question and nothing else). the lake features topic is killing me - I have such mess of information physical/chemical properties and stratification.

What I really want to know is, lake shorelines and waves? I can't find ANYTHING about them - what in the world are we supposed to know?

Ok I have another question...I'm looking at letter i - Lake formation and types. Any suggestions for good resources? I haven't found much detail for faulting and rifting, only the mention that lakes can form along faults and in rifts... Then, "changes over time" for the same topic - what is that ref...
