Can't wait to show up to Regionals with our shoddy instruments tomorrow! At least we actually have a treble and bass instrument this year, so we're guaranteed a better score. Haha.

I'm not sure about Division B, but in Division C you need to learn the Chezy and Manning equations.

Yeah there's no equations for B because as far as I know the rules are the same and Chezy and Manning says C only.

Re: Wind Power C

My partner made a decent design for this, but I don't know if it's going to break when they put it on the cd player-thing, can it bend backwards and forwards? If so, how far? Thanks~ :) Up to 3 cm on each side. Well, you can theoretically have it bend as far forward as you want. Not optimal, though...

Re: Duration

At Regionals we flew them in a hallway, so no pesky rafters to worry about. We finished first with a time of 1:07. :D (not great though I know)

Re: Wind Power C

How have the written tests been for everyone? FOr our regional, we just had some basic formula related problems, and a few questions about alternate energy and how much of it is used in the States. Question though... What are the 4 non-renewable energy sources? I put petroleum, natural gas, coal......

The only thing we had was a router. It got the job done but we could have done better with a better tool, so I wouldn't recommend it.

Re: Sounds of Music C

Yep, I'm using bouncy balls as mallets (the ones that I mentioned had in that post were wooden and didn't work very well). Bouncy balls work pretty well, although in the lower register, you might get some "boing" noises along with the actual note. Did you somehow drill holes in them and a...

Would rubber balls be a good material for mallets?

So our JV team is having trouble and i thought i'd act as some correspondence. I couldn't solve their problems or help them out myself, so of course this is where i turned :) They managed to get the copter flying - it gets up to the ceiling (we were testing in the school hallway for this), floats f...

If you are quickly banging off the ceiling, you have MORE than enough torque for that site. I'd suggest trying thinner rubber, more turns to get back to near the current launch torque, but not quite. Jeff Anderson Livonia, MI Our regionals is in one week. We can use what we've got right now (the si...
