Re: 2012 National Tournament: University of Central Florida
Is there a pdf score sheet that lists teams by rank instead of number?

Re: Nationals Webcast
I would also be disappointed. I actually really want to see it live this year and I was considering a scioly party the day of the closing ceremony.

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C
Yes, that is one of my questions. Do most competitions have the water transfered from a large hot beaker to the cool 250ml beaker, or is the 250ml beaker already heated? Also, if you are heating in the water in the 250ml beaker, have you considered evaporation? Some of the water will evaporate by th...

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C
There was much discussion previously in the thread about how supervisors should run the event but I'm not sure if we came to a consensus on loading the device. Imagine the following set up: A large 1L beaker containing water is heated up until the water reaches the desired temperature, say 90oC. The...

Re: Optics B/C
There really isnt a need to if the binder is already split into 2 sections. And I'm pretty sure you are allowed to take stuff straight out of the binder once competition starts. Instead of using a whole sheet for a template, and having to fold it so it fits in the laser shoot box, can I just bring ...

Re: Optics B/C
on your equations sheets, which equations are you including? i already have my basics, and i wondered if i should also include thick lense equations to complement the lense makers equation Do you have the doppler shift equation? Yep check out google today! it goes right along with optics! i thought...

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C
Yes you need to know all that. However, most college classes in thermodynamics are very heavily calculus based, while in science olympiad there is an "unwritten rule" or precident to (almost always) not include calculus. So if you are you are doing problems with calculus, you are probably ...

Re: Optics B/C
I just competed at Wright state on Saturday, and our laser shoot had an accuracy of 5 millimeters using all 5 mirrors. I've never done this before, so is this considered 'good?' I know I need to study more, i'm just wondering if I need a new shooting method too. How were the barriers placed on the ...

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C
Yes, this line is somewhat ambiguous. How do you read "directly above the beaker"?
