Re: SO tryouts?

Although an extra coach or two could be helpful, you don't really need them to do well at Scio. All of our mentors used to do Scio in highschool an...

Re: National Predictions

Um, sorry to burst some bubbles but the first time that "curse" was ever mentioned was about a page ago in this thread and it was meant jokingly.

Re: Physics Lab B/C

We actually used the exact same thought process as you nejanimb, and eventually justified it by saying that the average of the squares is less than the square of the averages, and the difference in wind speeds is great enough to maybe account for the difference between 6 and 8, but I think there's a...

Re: Picture This C

They were way easier this year. I was disappointed.
The ones I remember are:
epicenter
renewable resource
coprolite
pendulum
epidemiology
rocket

We got 21.

Re: Astronomy C

There wasn't an especially strong focus on anything this year, though there was some ds9 software analysis again, and the normal questions you would expect about the DSOs and simple math. The test was a little different this year, as they had one more supervisor than before. It was also really hard,...

Congratulations to Beckendorff on what may be the most impressive Nationals entrance ever.

Re: Texas 2010

I'm pretty sure there will be no "outstanding" coach award. For instance, which coach would be better: A) The coach that wins first every year but is overly harsh on their students or B) The coach that, despite not placing often, is liked by their students and teaches them well? I don't t...
