Re: Base failures
How would you slot your tension members through the base? How would you put holes through the base? And what size base are you using for this (as I can imagine my 1/2 by 3/32 basswood is too thin for this method. Also, how do you increase surface area with this method? https://i.imgur.com/d7PEe8T.j...

The Center Bass piece is facing the other direction, the two Balsa cap pieces went the opposite direction to the Bass piece.

https://i.imgur.com/d7PEe8T.jpg The piece of wood is angled so that the tension members end up at the width of the boom at the end they are glued to. Bass core is 3/32 thick with 1/32 thick pieces of Balsa to cover the tension members top and bottom. Tension members are on the outside of the compre...

Re: Configurations of the Boomilever
The loading block was at 45cm from the wall. The basic structure was 2cm square, and the tension members only attach in the lower right corners of the image (a few pieces of wood are missing from this image, broke during testing). The glue joint is not on the center line of the loading block, slight...

Re: Boomilever B/C
Just as a reference, the last time this event was run, our boom used 4 main compression members that were 1/8 x 1/8, with each being @ .7g a piece.

Re: PICTURES, SCORES, VIDEOS!!!
We competed yesterday at the CLC Regional in Illinois, Division B with three teams. Varsity scored 2785, JV G 2771 and JV B 2540. All are non-bonus and had variation in the bracing in the V vs JV in the chimney portion of the tower. Time for refinement to get ready for states. Team did a great job.

Re: Towers B/C
We are also using 3D printed parts to hold the legs in place while we glue the cross bracing on. We did design 'gaps' in the parts where we would be glueing the bracing, trying to avoid any potential issue with glue. The first tower we went to take off seemed stuck, and we ended up using our cutting...
