Re: Binder Events

As one of the key people behind the scenes pushing for more 'binders', I can tell you that there are several key reasons: 1. Any type of binder / page limitation puts a significant burden on the event supervisor to check ever team's resource. And no matter what language we use, it seems there are al...

Re: Machines B/C

As Nick previously alluded to, it's standard within the physics / mechanical engineering communities to make a general distinction between Statics and Dynamics. Just about every college of engineering will introduce students first to Statics concepts via one or a series of classes, which are then fo...

Re: Density Lab B

Do any of you know what is meant by rule 3b? Also, what do you think of rules 4b and 4c? Regarding 3b, Wikipedia is always a good first stop: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adiabatic_process 4b and 4c are pretty much the same as in the past, just a slight tweaking to how we conveyed the relative per...

There are rumors about Protein Modeling being a two-person event? Any thoughts?

Re: chalker, can I...

chalker, could you implement a rule in which if a certain percentage of teams are tiered (let's say, 50%), then the event would be trialed - to prevent unreasonable supervisors from skewing team results too much? I little internal SO politics for you all: I HATE tiering. I've pushed hard to elimina...

Re: chalker, can I...

Chalker, could you by chance add something to the rules, especially for build events, that would allow coaches to compete in any vacant time slots in events? Not to compete with students, but just for fun, and perhaps a cheap trophy. Something like a wooden spoon with the competition written on it ...

Re: "Oldies But Goodies" Events

What is the problem with releasing the results, anyways? All of the tests should have been graded and put together to find the winner in the first place, right? Am I missing something? What you are missing is the same thing we are missing: those actual results. These events didn't go through the ty...

Re: Nationals Event Discussion

I really wish the keynote speaker knew what scioly was. and wasn't weird, outdated, and patronizing towards women and female people; I think we all knew that women could do science before he got up on that stage and blew our minds  I'm really quite surprised by this statement and wonder if yo...

Re: "Oldies But Goodies" Events

Oh, also: what was the thought process on giving ONE shirt to the pair of competitors that won...? (https://photos.app.goo.gl/EqnySyZSs5X8o3cq9) It's news to me that shirts were given out. Like I said, the national scoring team wasn't involved in those events at all, so we didn't even know there we...
