Re: Electric Vehicle C

Does this seem really obvious to everyone? I just received a response from SOINC, and it basically said that it was a stupid question because the rules are clear, without actually clarifying which of the two meanings was correct. Am I just being stupid, or is it reasonable to think that "leading" c...

Re: Northern California 2015

That Experimental Design prompt was probably one of the best-written and definitely the most creative tests I've ever taken for SciOly! How did you guys approach that problem???
What was it?

Re: Pennsylvania 2014

Ouch. Park Forest isn't even in the top 10 and SCAHS had 4 votes.

Re: Pennsylvania 2014

Any news on the CE team yet??!
I don't think so. Does anyone know anyone from Perkiomen Valley or Allentown Central Catholic?
I would bet it was ACC since we never see them get an envelope but we see Perkiomen Valley get one.

Re: Ceiling at Nationals

We left the tether out of the rules because we intended altitude management to be a part of the challenge. Tethering reduces the complexity of the problem because you don't have to manage torque. Jeff Anderson Livonia, MI I would have guessed the tether option was also left out of the rules because...

Re: Optics B/C

Would it be legal if I put double-sided sticky tape on the template so that: the template components can stick to each other when I assemble the template, the template doesn't move after it has been aligned with the laser, and the mirrors wouldn't move after they were placed on the template (all to...

Re: Optics B/C

@foreverphysics Templates are likely fastest. I'm not a huge fan of them, but they get the job done. Some words of advice: templates are going to be much harder to utilize effectively this year. With the barrier(s) and variable target position, there are a lot of factors to take into account. And s...

Re: Optics B/C

thank you! so i would rather get it like 2 mm off and spend like 45 sec instead of 30 sec with 5mm off?? thank you! 45 seconds and 2 mm comes out to 38.3/40. 30 seconds and 5 mm comes out to 38.5/40. You are only gaining 3 mm for 15 seconds in the above example, so although it would likely not be v...
