Re: Sumo Bots B/C [NY Trial]

Oh, I had contact with them and I gave them my designs and materials (plus the old device). I just don't have much faith they'll try to build anything cool. Surprise, surprise! Stuy dropped Sumo from all three teams A B and C. There was so little competition this year it wasn't funny. If I were a b...

Re: Ecology B/C

When studying about the fauna, should my partner and I study specific things or just stick with their adaptations? For example, I know that the taiga has snowshoe hare. Should I study specific things about the snowshoe hare as well as other fauna? Thanks. As I said before, you study ANYthing and EV...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

How do you loosen the spring on the mousetrap? I've tried moving the bar sticking out of the spring farther to the outside but the other side of the spring just came with it. Is this something you just need pliers and some elbow strength for or is there another way? I'm not sure if there is another...

Re: Ecology B/C

If you guys have a multiple-choice test, consider yourself lucky. The NYS test writer has been giving short-answer and open-ended question tests for who knows how long. So it's hard studying so that you can write something about ANYthing and everything, which is basically how broad this event is -....

Oh okay, but it's still Stuy we're talking about here, you guys are still pretty well funded (compared to us -.-) and I'm sure someone you lef...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

Okay, thanks guys. But mechanism aside, the rules say the traps have to be unmodified. I cut off part of the snapper on my traps and put in a bar to extend the lever arm to get more leverage when operating the trap. Is that considered modifying the trap? If so, how else would you add on and extend a...

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C

I tried to follow what the wiki said, I've been at school 'till 7 or 8 all week trying to figure it out, but it just doesn't work. Can I see some sample pictures of how you guys did it? I'm desperate here. And I'm in NY if you don't want to share with in-state competitors (never been to Nats, don't ...

Re: Trajectory B/C

If you haven't noticed yet, I use a cannon/Push device, I'm including the link to my Photobucket if you want to see more pictures. To what height can your cannon push device reach? I've always used a catapult-like design and last year at States they elevated the close target to 2.5 meters, and most...

Re: Sumo Bots B/C [NY Trial]

Is Stuy using Harpy II or some variation of it at NYC Metro this year? I saw the computer prototype picture on geekshavefeelings.com, it looks like a big improvement over Harpy from last year's regionals, pretty sweet, and I'm kind of itching to fight it with my bot. :D You're going to have to tell...
