Spectators?

Just found out that spectators won't be allowed for MP at our Regionals. I'm kinda bummed, but maybe some of the coaches thought people would copy stuff for State or maybe someone's worried about balloons being jostled by air currents...I dunno. I loved watching MP last year, seeing how everybody di...

Re: Sumo Bots C

Well, The robot is actually has one netbook laptop inside of it that acts as the control panel of sorts and is controled via bluetooth by another laptop. I really don't know how we could control the laptop inside the robot without using another computer. Here's the basic concept of our robot, but w...

Re: Sumo Bots C

Well, Im not really the tech guy in our group, more of the structural design guy, but what I think we're doing is having it on wifi and using the 2.4 ghz frequency, like bluetooth and the three sub-frequencies wont be a problem since it automatically picks an available frequency. I just hope that w...

Re: Sumo Bots C

Ok, this is my first year doing science olympiad, and I'm doing the sumobots, and there was part of the rules that I would like to get clarified. Does the robot have to be operated with a remote controller, because my partner and I are thinking about operating it through a laptop computer, is that ...

Re: Sumo Bots C

Yeah but robotman, your robot is probably so fabulous that it doesn't matter :D what kind of surface the SumoBot ring was made of. I did see some matches from previous years where the surface was a plywood square, one match a Bot got hung up on the edge and couldn't get back in, so I guess everyone ...

Re: Sumo Bots C

Yeah I totally agree, they need to make a clarification, which is weird becaus they specified that in the trial rules last year They probably won't specify a surface to be used nationally to allow for more ease of implementation at all competitions. Best to ask the event supervisor at your individu...

Re: Sumo Bots C

On carpet ? I have seen a bot match (not Science Olympiad or official 'SumoBot") on video that they used a carpet square for the ring. Running the event on carpet would make a difference to me, I'd want to know ahead of time and maybe adjust my wheels' surface or something...if the team has onl...

As GH reported back in June, Robot Marketplace has a 2.4 GHz transmitter/Receiver that they are selling for $42 for the pair ($32 for the transmitter, $10 for the receiver). Look at http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/0-GWS24TR.html
Duh. Thanks JBoyd.

Ok, JBoyd-NY is looking like a friggin' genius at this point. Now IF we can just get all these parts. I've been looking on the Robot Marketplace website and don't see the $42 binding transmitter/receiver?
