Re: Massachusetts 2011

Well yesterday was such an amazing day. Our team came in 8th in only it's second year and I couldn't be prouder as it's founder. Congrats to Acton-Boxboro and Newton North for such great showings. Congrats to all who were there, it was a fun time :D

Re: Massachusetts 2011

Is anyone else annoyed that helicopters and mousetrap vehicle aren't going to be events this year, but circuit lab is? My team was so excited for those two events D:

We had this in Massachusetts last year and from what I heard it was pretty cool

Re: Sounds of Music C

Would a dulcimer be considered percussion? It uses strings, but it's hit with hammers.

Re: Chem Lab C

Yep, haha. They kept aqueous solutions and added redox.

I'm gonna have to brush up on my redox labs. Didn't do too many in AP Chem last year because we were rushing towards the end.

Re: Circular to Linear Task

^ Agreed

Do you think the object has to make a full rotation in order for it to be considered circular, or could it just be headed for a circular motion?

How do you figure out which amino acids are used and in what sequence?

Re: Wind Power C

We used a water bottle and a CD and got 19th (our blade assembly was a quarter of an inch too big D:, but it got a least a full volt)

Re: Anatomy B/C

I know there really isn't a definitive answer to this question and it's probably been answered a million times, but what is the extent to which we should know certain things? I mean for example, the contraction of muscles. Is it enough to know that the myosin pulls on the actin? Or should we know do...

Re: Chem Lab C

Wow, I'd really like atomic theory and all that. It would also make for some interesting labs. I'm excited for chem lab this year :D

Re: Wind Power C

Yea, I agree. I would like to be able to build a nice design before competition. I hated our test portion though, the majority of it was about efficiencies that my partner and I had no clue how to calculate.

Re: Massachusetts 2011

That looks interesting. I don't think we can do it really cause we don't have normal transportation to places (we're not actually an official school team yet). I think we'll just focus on competition, oh well. Anyone have any idea what they want to do for their events yet? I'm thinking: Anatomy, Che...
