Re: Environmental Chem

At our states, they asked us what was the dominant soil type in New York, but idk how they could do that at nationals, unless there is one dominant soil type across the country? idk I wouldn't worry about it

Re: Environmental Chem

Oh, that is true- I did see it on a Division B Invitational Test on the Wiki- forgot about that lol. I didn't really worry about it, but I guess you might want some knowledge of it for Nationals

Re: HOW DID YOU DO AT STATE?

I split all my events at States-Road Scholar (between state/mapquest and topo), Env. Chem (between the testing and the multiple choice) and Dynamic Planet (just split right in half, but worked together anyways haha)- Pentathlon was split too, although I didn't choose to split that one.

Re: How many medals do you have?

Re: What State and Region are you guys in?

Re: The Society for the Discontinuation of the Pentathlon

OMG i loved science word!!!! afterall, there IS still science involed, so you can't argue that it doesn't belong in science olympiad. Um, yes, we can. Just because a dish has some sugar in it doesn't make it a dessert... and just because Pentathlon has some science in it doesn't make it a good SciO...

Re: The Society for the Discontinuation of the Pentathlon

OMG i loved science word!!!! lol and ok, i know at one point i posted on here my hate for pentathlon, but since competing in it, i have really come to enjoy it! the competition itself is very fun, and i think it should stay an event.. afterall, there IS still science involed, so you can't argue that...

Re: Pentathalon

Both sides to this arguement are legitimate.. I agree that this is SCIENCE olympiad, so its not a place where you would expect to find athletic people, or a physical competition.. However, I do play sports, and I for one did enjoy competing in this event. Even for the not-so-athletic people, this ev...

Re: Environmental Chem

did they give you instructions for the salts and carbonate ion tests? Yes, they did, and on top of the little instruction paragraph in the test booklet, the sup explained it all at the beginning. I didn't like the way they had those tests, because in the rules it only talks about using probes to te...
