I thought the national supervisor was from Indiana?

NaCl's flame is unmistakably yellow, at that point it's a matter of differentiating it from the other Na compounds.

Re: Astronomy C

Can anyone explain to me how to locate lyman, balmer and paschen absorption lines on a chart of stellar spectra and how you determine the strongest to weakest line? Essentially, its quesiton number 64 on 2002 Delaware Nationals; here's the link to the tests: http://www.tufts.edu/as/wright_center/pr...

Re: Remote Sensing C

Hey guys, I have decided to dedicate myself to the study of remote sensing. While I don't see myself as an expert (Top 20 Nationals :D ) I think I can help anyone who is looking for it. Anyone else who thought last year's test was way too easy? The Nationals test was way too easy, I feel like it ma...

I disagree...they basically changed the topic from Global Warming to impact on forest biomes without technically changing the topic of "human impact on Earth." I think the event will be very different this year.

Re: Remote Sensing

The test was good, though, on all points but that it was too short--and Van Hecke (supervisor) was just using Canada remote sensing images, he was drilling in the point that everybody should have read the tutorial. Longer was the main problem. Great job in Astronomy, by the way! Oh wow, that tutori...

Re: Remote Sensing

I have to say, this was not really a good test. Most of it was on the satellite imagery rather than the environmental stuff, and 37 questions, with mostly multiple choice is not a great way to determine who knows more about the event. And this is coming from the person that got 3rd (well, one of th...

Re: 2010 National Tournament: University of Illinois

Oo the events are held together, thats really good! i'd always have to rush to get to an event thats on the other side of campus Most of the events are conveniently close. Some of the earth science events are a couple blocks away...and are in buildings not on the maps they gave us. (at least at sta...

Re: Astronomy

The topic is going to be variable stars next year, this year's rules say that Epsilon Aurigae is going to be a DSO again next year. Not to mention the National Director is a member of the AAVSO (American Association of Variable Star Observers).
