Re: Scrambler B
The rule that I was referring to is the one that says that the floor should be smooth and level, not specifically about which direction the illegal grooves were running. I was only suggesting that if they simply couldn't find a better location for the EV event, then at least they could have run acro...

Re: Elevated Bridge B/C
I thought that EB (as well as tower and boomilever in the past) continues to be one of the best run and designed SO building events. I don't know of any issues that anyone had with the way it was run at Nationals or the rules for the event. It's nice that the rules are constantly changed so that nob...

Re: 2010 National Tournament: University of Illinois
Of all the SO Nationals that I have been to, Urbana and Bloomington have been the best run, best venues, nicest campuses. They really put on a great welcome at both places, and I think that last ime Nationals was at Illinois that offered a full scholarship to every C division gold medal winner (I be...

Re: Scrambler B
so after waiting for... 2 days with no one responding... i have the urge to ask this again. does anyone know ANYTHING about scrambler at nationals? All I know is that both Scambler and EV were run on a very rough wood floor, with the track parallel to the boards (in violation of the rules). For tho...

Re: Building events next year
In the end I think that JYC broke down into people simply building devices and figuring out a way to incorporate virtually any myster object into the device without changing anything. Our team could make essentially anything from a paper clip to an old Buick work with either device (actually, make i...

Re: Egg-O-Naut C
At Nationas some Egg-O nauts sat on the launcher for about 10-15 minutes while the teams were asked to wait to launch. SInce the bottle was pressurized they could not make any adjustments to the rocket as the wind kept blowing them around on the launcher. In the end some parts worked loose and in on...

Re: Electric Vehicle C
I don't like to complain about how events are run because I know how hard the volunteers work to make SO Nationals happen, so I will call this a suggestion rather then a complaint. If you are going to run an event you should carefully look over the rules. In this case the rules specifically state th...

Re: Trajectory B/C
The same guy ran trajectory this year as has run trajectory and storm the castle for years. I had two issues with how the event was run this year. 1. THere was essentially no way to aim at the far target because they blocked off the view with a curtain. I think the curtain was actually meant to stop...
