Re: Astronomy C

are we allowed to bring more than 1 laptop/binder per team (since the manual says "each team member is permitted...a programmable calculator and either a laptop...or one 3-ring binder") ? Because this was bolded to contrast with last year's rules which only permitted each team to bring one resource...

Re: Astronomy C

Does anyone know the last year galaxies was an event for astronomy??? thanks! the galaxies for 2010 is posted on the thread already also variable stars was 2009, not galaxies E probably wants to know how long ago it was the last time that galaxies were the topic of astronomy. As do I. I think I rem...

Re: Picture This C

Just outta curiosity, did anything change from last year rules. I really wouldn't know what they would change if they changed anything. The bolded parts of the rules include that the supervisor will provide writing implements (dunno why this one is necessary), and that words may be broken into part...

Re: Anatomy B/C

this event didnt have cheat sheets before? really?? i thought it did... Certainly not in C division. And for an event like Anatomy, even a single piece of paper makes the event much easier. you could easily list out the origins/insertions/actions of all the required muscles, all the potenti...

Re: Physics Lab B/C

Do we know that it's going to be the same idea this year? Like, windmills? It could be something else. Physics lab isn't always the same. Anyone read the rules yet?
Building a windmill (which is new to C this year) and a written test.

Re: Astronomy C

And Epsilon Aurigae, most likely, since it said that in last year's rules. Unless they took that away. Still, those select topics is better than having to deal with all of them all over again. Epsilon Aurigae is still included, and will apparently be included for next year, too. Dunno how they're g...

Re: Astronomy C

After googling a little, North Carolina says the topic is galaxies
Oh, please let it be so. Another year of variable stars would be absolutely intolerable.

Re: Shock Value B

The correct interpretation of this information is that: if you increase the resistance in a circuit, and you want to maintain the same current, you must do something to increase the voltage applied to the circuit While this is true, I didn't want to increase the applied voltage to maintain the same...

Re: Shock Value B

You seem to have misstated Ohm's Law. In actuality, Ohm's Law states, using your notation, that E = I x R. Good explanation, otherwise. To add to that, it is not the case that increasing the resistance in a circuit will increase the voltage. The correct interpretation of this information is that: if...

Re: Anatomy B/C

SOinc.org has a page for 2010 Anatomy. That would be an exellent place to start studying.
It still has the skeletal stuff from last year, but it hasn't been updated to include information about the muscular/endocrine systems. So it won't be much of a help for now, I'd imagine.
