Re: MagLev C

I agree with this entirely. It isn't hard to find ceramic magnets with 6-9 pounds of holding force, 8-10 of which could be placed on a single vehicle. It would basically be like trying to lift a 60 pound weight. Which illustrates part of the reason for having this test in the first place. What if y...

Re: MagLev C

To clarify, our vehicle has propellers on the front that reach down to the top level of the track, and the pencil and your hand holding it get very close to the prop with this method, luckily no ones been hurt yet(one prop did come within inches of an ES's eye when it flew across the room), but a d...

Re: Gravity Vehicle C

I was thinking about having a device that might have 2 points to release the vehicle from, for 2 different heights. I was looking at the spreadsheet on soinc.org and it allows for 2 different heights but not for 2 different predicted times. I understand why that would be for a team that uses the sam...

Re: Pennsylvania 2013

Yep, hopefully we'll be going to Athens, though according to their website, 17/30 teams are already signed up, so hopefully we can get administration approval before the invite completely fills up :S

Re: Robot Arm C

That brings up another question. Rule 6.c.v. states that time stops when any part of the device touching the arm square leaves the square. Does that mean part of the base not in contact with the arm square can not only leave the square, but also touch the competition surface without time ending? Al...

Re: Pennsylvania 2011

Are they holding the Rustin Invitational again? That was a good invitational and I'd love to participate in it again (writing a test, etc...sadly I'm not in the right division :()

Re: Pennsylvania 2011

According to Conestoga's website (http://battleatvalleyforge.wikispaces.com/) it will be on January 14th. Come on, Athens, the same day?!
"Come on, Athens"?

Athens has always run their invitational on the MLK weekend. More like come on, Conestoga.
