Re: Bottle Rocket B

More details, please. And a cone as what? Sorry for the double post, but you need to stop asking this. You've asked this 4 or 5 times. You'll probably see some of the top rockets in the best of 2011 photo gallery sometime soon. All the top rockets pretty much looked the same. Either a long cone or ...

Re: Bottle Rocket B

So, what sort of times were there at the Nats? Winning time was around 28 most of the top ten where between 21-25 seconds. There were tons of 18-19 second rockets. I think 3rd-10th place was all 22 second rockets, if memory serves. We got 14th with a ~20 second rocket (maybe a few hundredths less o...

Re: Bottle Rocket B

Please take this into consideration when looking at the times: The timing stopped when the rocket hit the ground (meaning the grass/concrete on the same level as the launcher), out of sight, or it came to a complete rest. The last part is the most important. If the rocket launched up and landed on t...

Re: Bottle Rocket B

If you read my post before you've read why a well-balanced rocket should handle wind just fine and actually improve times from it. With a manual pump I could pumped it to 90psi. I'm 5'10" and 114lbs... My friend who's around 90-100lbs could pump it to 75psi (with a tad bit of effort, but it wa...

Re: Bottle Rocket B

We had the State Tournament today; after we launched and had our best rocket go only ~12 seconds, we found that the launcher was tilted. Oh well :P Argh! That's unfortunate! I know I always ask to adjust the launcher and move it around to find the flattest possible place before I launch. I'm pretty...

Re: Bottle Rocket B

Any advice for a newcomer? Only just found out about getting to go to the competition, which is in three weeks. Finished building the launch pad today with home-made bottle stopper and it finally works! Teammate bowed out so I am working solo on rocket designs. One thing is that at the tournament y...

Re: Bottle Rocket B

Why would you launch the rockets at 20psi? The rocket will show different characteristics at such a low pressure and it doesn't seem like much of a valid test. I'm just wondering out of curiosity because it would be nice to know a way to test the rockets at a low psi without risking destroying them ...

Re: Pennsylvania 2011 Division B Poll

We spent about 10 minutes after lunch one work session posting random comments on here. Taking whatever I said seriously was not the intent. Sorry for the confusion

Re: Bottle Rocket B

I haven't seen any rockets over 30 seconds at any of the 4 invitationals (Northmont, Magsig, Solon, West-Liberty) I was at. The best ones that I saw were around 25s. On the topic of the wind, it actually can help your rocket. If there's a medium breeze and your rocket's light enough, the breeze will...
