Has anyone seen this in person? It's hard to tell, did the part of the arm that raised the ball previously score at least one point? Impressive!

Re: Robot Arm C

If you search YouTube for robot arm videos you can find several examples of the event being run with two bonus jugs. Am I missing something? Is there any interpretation of the rules that would suggest using more than one bonus jug?

Re: MagLev C

Has anyone else had difficulty weighing their vehicle, the magnets seem to affect the electronic scale that we have been using? We had to use a block of foam on the scale under the vehicle, not sure if we can trust the readings.

Re: MagLev C

FYI, we posted a new clarification for MagLev today: http://soinc.org/official_rules_clarif Out of curiosity, have any incidents of injury (hopefully noting more than a band aid) been reported to warrant the rule clarification. I have seen some students jerk their hands back away from the vehicle. ...

Re: Robot Arm C

One interpretation of scoring the final ping pong ball has been to award one point for being in the north zone, that is if it was in fact raised and held above the north zone. The ping pong ball would earn one point plus the .02 points per cm. Scoring this way has been inconsistent, it was allowed a...

Re: Robot Arm C

Question for anyone running this event at an upcoming invitational, How do you plan to ensure that the ping pong balls will remain in position before the timed run begins? It has been difficult to keep them in place, if someone is walking or just breathing nearby it can cause the balls to roll.

Re: Robot Arm C

If you look at the playing field layout on soinc.org, you can find a clue to the new scoreable item.

This would be a good example of the style controller refered to as Master/Slave.

Re: Robot Arm C

The top placing at Ohio's state competition was decided by the first tie breaker, 4 motors vs 5 motors. There were two perfect scores and nearly another, the 3rd place team had a pvc pipe go out of bounds (otherwise it could have been perfect) . 1 Solon 2 Mentor 3 Centerville All 3 had similar contr...
