Re: What to Do for Nationals in Wisconsin...
The 32' is wrong and is the measurement to the actual ceiling. The bottom of the rafters are roughly 28'. Bigger issue are basketball hoops that are slanted in and downwards to maybe 23-24'. Between the hoops, you have maybe 50' of space. They have Air Trajectory, Glider and Wright Stuff all sharing...

Re: State Tournament Results
Thanks for the explanation. I'm sure other competitions have had similar unwarranted tier/dq due to uncontrollable environmental factors such as space & weather. It's too sad that such an illogical rule was the deciding factor in qualification for Nationals. In my opinion, they should just use a...

Re: 2016 National Tournament: University of Wisconsin
when DC dropped their bid I don't believe DC gets a bid to nationals. Don't they consolidate with another state, like VA? I think that's what generally happened, but apparently something was different in 2011: Okay, reviving this to ask: anyone heard of the possibility of a second team for us at al...

Re: Rotor Egg Drop B
Also the device hovers an inch above the ground, and did anyone notice that killerbuni said the he/she got 1st at states when his/her states didnt happen yet. Was pointing out more concrete evidence. Hovering near ground (briefly) can be due to certain currents and physical phenomenon which can be ...

Re: Rotor Egg Drop B
Obvious fake. Blades flapping due to accelerations. Fishing line easily visible from 45s on due to light through windows. Device swinging back and forth proving it's being suspended via the fishing line. Let your results (go win state) speak for themselves. Until then, no need for anyone to post reg...

At most competitions, you could probably get 3/5 (1 off so none right) and medal.Cheesy Pie wrote:My RFTS partner now has a fear of Fermi Questions. He read some of them, and his reaction is that you can get one question right and medal.

Re: Hardest Science Olympiad Event, in your opinion?
As a rule of thumb, the rules and/or administration of them determine the difficulty. For example, Junkyard Challenge in 2010 was to snap 4 mousetraps in order as close to 60s as possible - simplest event ever to earn near perfect score. Following year, you could have horrible luck with one little t...
