The top four teams from region 3 in each division advance to state, if that's what you were asking.135scioly wrote:Does Region 3 take the top two teams from each Division? Either way, congrats to Pembroke and the other schools too. It can't be easy going against them.

Re: Missouri 2013
Whhhaaat???!! This is insane! What if Ladue doesn't go to nationals!!!? Didn't they win state last year, beating Pembroke? Does anyone know how much they won by? Last year, Pembroke C absolutely dominated at state, medaling in 19 events and scoring something like 56 points, beating Ladue by a sizab...

Yes, see rule 5g.bigNick wrote:Is it within the rules to move the paper clip between runs? I don't see anywhere where it would expressly prohibit it, but I was just wondering.

Re: Robot Arm C
I personally hope that motors were either better-defined or removed as a tiebreaker; last year's rules left much to be desired in that department. There will be next to no need for tiebreakers because scores will now have fractions of a point from the height bonus. Envision something like gravity v...

Re: Robot Arm C
I like the height bonus, course all I have to do is measure it.... Comment, its not a large bonus, until you can get a near perfect score with everything else, it may not be worth spending a LOT of time on. Note, please spend a little time on it, I HATE ties. Jeff Anderson Livonia, MI "perfect...

Re: Robot Arm C
I think that a better tie breaker would be the amount of time taken to complete the tasks, and any time left would be added to the points. If the duration of run were to be incorporated into the tie breaker, I could only see it as a second tie breaker, behind number of motors. If it were the first ...

Re: Robot Arm C
I agree on taking the measurement while the device is still powered on. For teams achieving large heights, the servos/motors they are using will have to provide a lot of torque. However, turn off the power, the servos/motors provide way less torque, and the arm comes crashing down. Now a comment on ...

Re: Robot Arm C
This bonus also reminded me of the Mission Bonus. That balloon bonus was so large the national medaling teams did not even have to worry about completing all the tasks in order to secure a medal. To the maximum distance others have suggested: this addition is impossible because it defeats the entire...
