Re: Bungee Drop C

^Definitely, I would rather have the anchor point being the top of the mass (the top of the eyebolt). If not, then the anchor point should be at the bottom of the bottle. At nationals, it was neither. The anchor point was 21 cm above the bottom of the bottom (and the bottle height was 29 cm). Also, ...

Re: Unofficial Rankings C

The Japanese school's name is Okazaki Prefectural High School btw. During the swap meet, they were very friendly! I was overjoyed to meet them (in a very rough Japanese ;) ). For Top 3 Results, I'm betting Centerville over Solon (based on WSU) and Seven Lakes and Troy being neck and neck with each o...

Re: Mission Possible C

For timing if we exceed the specified time, do we get all the points up to the specified time (2 pt for each second) AND THEN the penalty? Or do we get JUST the penalty (-1 pt for every second exceeding)? Ex: Specified time: 100 sec. (90.1 to 120.0 at Nationals) Tested time: 110 sec. Do we get 100*...

Re: Mission Possible C

What do you guys think about a rack and pinion time managing device? It's basically gears moving (powered by a motor). I thought we could adjust it to give us more or less time. However, in the rules, it states that all time adjusting tasks in the MP should be non-electrical at the start, middle, an...

Re: Bungee Drop C

For nationals height, (5-10 m) how are you guys testing at these heights? Unless you school has a place like this, I don't know where to calibrate my bungee cord. How does the Science Olympiad committee expect us to practice in such insane heights? Buildings. With multiple stories. Also, you could ...

Re: Boomilever B/C

This year is my first year doing Boomilever, and although I believe I've been getting fairly good scores (in my past three invitationals: 856, 1323, 1785), I've been experiencing some interesting failures, mostly with my distal end and attachment base, while the compression chords remain intact. Of...
