Re: 2011-2012 Rules

Guys,

Be careful. The school running the event at Ohio's State Competition tiered me. My box was exactly 49x49x79cm. They tiered me because my box's orientation was vertical and "apparently" that is against the rules. We argued and they upheld it. Such bull. What a good end to my senior year.

Re: Sumo Bots C

Soooo about the sharpness rule. My wedge is made of a 12'' x 12'' piece of sheet metal that has been bent. I duct taped the entire edge of the blade except the part that's touching the ground. Would that constitute a second tier? Will I have to duct tape the only metal part?

Re: Sumo Bots C

Yeah, we were concerned about the wedges but we think we've got something to combat it (around the pencil pusher bot strategy for combating wedges @ http://www.robotroom.com/NumberTwo3.html ). We've maxed the mass of the bot, with a metallic wedge that's flat touching the ground then leads up @aroun...

Re: Sumo Bots C

Hey guys, They just reinstated Sumo for states for Ohio as a trial. My friend and I are using a modified Traxxas rc car@7.2v with some pretty sweet speed (if we back out of the square and floor it at the opposing bot) around 10-20 mph. At ~1.9kg and a strong metal scoop, I would assume that would be...

Re: Tasks & Scoring

Hey Guys, I'm working on some modifications for the Ohio State Tournament on April 30th. I was wondering what type of point totals I should be aiming for. My MP device will be able to achieve ~1070 total points right now under the 90 second ideal time for states. What should I be aiming for? I place...

Re: Sign Task

I placed first out our (relatively non-competitive) regional competition yesterday (Grandview Heights Regional). We completed three total tasks. The start task, the sand timer, and the final task (with the balloon carrying 13 grams worth of sign). We had full ideal time, and the sand timer ran for 5...

Re: Sumo Bots C

I can confirm (as per regional director J. Leutz) that Sumobots will NOT be run at the Grandview Heights Regional (Columbus, OH) because it will not be run at the state competition at OSU.

Very sad, considering my Traxxas EREVO curved pyra-wedge bot was destroying blocks of wood :(

Re: Sumo Bots C

Hey guys,

I have a quick question. I'm somewhat confused about the voltage, and the whole voltage (14.4V)/cell combination. Would a battery such as this http://www.amazon.com/6-Cell-7-2V-3300m ... 816&sr=8-1 be legal?

Thanks,
Tim
