Re: Helicopter Testing

I guess it does wobble when it comes down, but when it goes up it shoots up. Yes we're using competition rubber 3/32 inch from freedomflightmodels. We're using lube, but I have no idea if it's silicone based. It came with the rubber we bought. How long should the rubber we're winding be? Our rubber...

Re: Rotors

Any drying in the oven should be at the lowest setting, well under 200 degrees. Doesn't take much to light off Balsa, as you found. You might be better just air drying over a heating register. Some folks have used microwaves to dry, very tricky but some make it work. It can overheat your glue and w...

Re: Duration

I would believe a little over 3:00 but any more than that I'd have to see to believe. That's a great time! I look forward to seeing it at nationals fly i think a 3:30 plus is completely pausible. having built a heli that routenily gets over 3 minutes i can see where the improvements would be made a...

Re: Sign Task

chalker said that they used very few tasks, as mentioned above, so they probably lifted more than 177 grams. When i ran the math to get 177 it was assuming they did all the highest tasks, without those tasks they must have been closer to 185, maybe even more. i didn't see them run at state but i've...

Re: Duration

ohio state had a probably 100-120 foot ceiling but its sloped with all kinds of obstruction. The French field house (where helicopters and other flight events have been held for years at OSU is ~47 feet tall at the peak, definitely not 100. ohhh! my bad good thing i didn't do metric mastery when it...
