Re: Chem Lab C

Does anybody know of any good equilibrium labs that are manageable with the limited amount of time? The ones I know of wouldn't be very practical.

Re: Gravity Vehicle C

Does anyone know the distance from nationals and any approximate times/distance scores that placed well?

Re: Robot Arm C

I would guess maybe 6-8 will get perfect scores. Teams who use multiple arms and control boxes could get perfect scores without too much trouble. The deciding factor at nationals will be the number of motors used and possibly the quality of documentation (which, unfortunately, could be a matter of o...

Re: Robot Arm C

Chalker7, do you think would it be possible to organize FAQ's by the date they were posted rather than by the order they appear in the rules? It would be a lot easier to check if a new one was posted without having to scroll through. Just a suggestion for future years.

Re: Sounds of Music C

1. I suppose they could be, but you would be losing a lot of points in the creativity section of the rubric (part I). (Also keep in mind they'd have to be different ranges) 2. Not specifically within the SoM rules, but that would probably be breaking one of the general sportsmanship rules. Will tha...

Re: Robot Arm C

I find the component list to be the most frustrating. If someone wants to make a tweak of some sort before the competition, they have to go back through and add/delete things from the list.

Re: Gravity Vehicle C

Thank you all for your input. We are just using the wire to tie something on to our ramp.

Re: Gravity Vehicle C

My partner noticed that no "electrical components" may be used on the device. I'm fairly certain the intent of this rule was to prevent students from using electricity. Is it then, permissible, to use a piece of wire to serve the same purpose as a piece of string? While it could be called an electri...

Re: Gravity Vehicle C

I noticed that the rules require one side of the ramp to be parallel with the Start Line. This concerns me because the tape that defines the start line is not always straight and parallel to the tape containing the end point. Why not allow teams to aim their ramp with a sighting device instead? I t...
