Re: Texas 2016

So proud of my team for bringing home third place this past weekend. It feels weird to change my status to "grad" but today was our last scioly meeting of the year. Thanks to all the competitors across Texas for helping make my experience so enriching. I'm also proud of Beckendorff JH and ...

Re: Texas 2016

We (Seven Lakes) went to UT Austin Regionals yesterday which was really well run. The results for Division B and C are as follows. Division C 1. Seven Lakes A (46) 2. Clements A (54) 3. Seven Lakes B (79) 4. Clements B (101) 5. St. Andrews (112) Division B (by school bc I don't have the awards sheet...

Re: MIT Invite

Maybe it's because I'm older, but it's really not surprising to me to see Seven Lakes beat Clements. Frankly, I'm more impressed that Clements was so close to Seven Lakes at a high-level invite like this, which LASA and Seven Lakes always tend to do well at. Unome is from Chattahoochee, and it's al...

Re: MIT Invite

I wouldn't necessarily say that Clements destroyed us (Seven Lakes) at CyFalls since their "A" team got first with 142, Seven Lakes "A" got second with 191, Seven Lakes "B" got third with 232, and Clements "B" got 7th with 378 points. Clements has probably bee...

Re: Disease Detectives B/C

In Disease Detectives this year, I noticed that the test I took at Nats was significantly different from the one I took at any other competition (invites, state, regionals). It required much more critical thinking and problem solving skills than just memorization of vocab words and RR/OR formulas. ...

Re: Events 2015-2016?

@Chalker
This question was already asked but you probably didn't see it since a lot of people were posting at that time/you may not know since it isn't part of your committee. But, do you know if the Invasive Species list is likely to change majorly from when it was a trial event in 2013?

Re: National test discussion

Green Generation: We studied a lot for the test but, after finishing, my partner and I thought that the test was hard. Since it was clearly difficult for everyone, we knew that it just depended on how much everyone else studied to see where we placed. Other than the basic emphasis on legislation, we...

Re: 2015 National Tournament: University of Nebraska

Oh, btw, I'm making a live event medal listing again for this year. The link is below: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12GWZizPfI0wHmRpZXmKLV2WHOvuhGWcry1x5E8uJbaU/edit?usp=sharing I probably will need some help entering in the events, however, so if anyone would like to help me out, just si...

Re: Green Generation B/C

What is a natural source of VOCs? Name a Superfund site other than Love Canal. How/Where does Aluminum bioaccumulate in aquatic organisms? 1. One natural source of VOCs are volcanoes. Others include many plants (and, specifically, plants generally produce terpenes) 2. Valley of the Drums 3. Aluminu...
