Re: Awesome Aquifers B

Does anyone know a good way to show remediation without using charcoal? I read on the side of the container that it was known to cause cancer so I guess that wouldbe hazardous. Any other ideas? There are many many many ways to remediate water. Just think of a material you could add to water that yo...

Re: Wildflowers [TX State Event]

Are you guys taking the same approach for studying as you are for Forestry? I am in both events and am studying the same way for both events. By the way, here are the event guidelines: http://outreach.science.tamu.edu/tso/2012/Guidelines/2012_Texas_Wildflowers_Event_Guidelines.pdf I've found that f...

Re: Awesome Aquifers B

How do you make food coloring spread faster? When I add it to the aquifer, it just stays in one spot. If you are contaminating your aquifer with food coloring, I've found that it is really hard to get out. We use cool-aid, and then after we put the cool-aid in we make it "precipitate" so that the w...

I found that taking test always helps with that part, and then presenting once a week or doing imaginary aquifer.

Re: Awesome Aquifers B

How do you use activated carbon/charcoal to remediate your aquifer? I'm pretty sure you don't just dump it in... We make a filter to remedaite our water, with charcoal in it. Also make sure you let the charcoal sit in some water before you use it at competition so that it wont turn your water black...

Re: Triple E [TX State Event]

I find something very interesting about this event is the parameter in which we may only use 3x5 notecards. What is the purpose of making this rule? Being new to Science Olympiad, I was also wondering if they have had such a thing like this before. Additionally, I have a question about a sentence i...
