Re: Tournaments Run with Test Writing Teams

I appreciate you bringing this up! One thing I did at UMSO (I was that test organizing type of person too) was to have people elsewhere (other states, another scioly org at MSU) write tests in addition to our own team. It worked out alright for paper and pen ones (we weren't in good contact with MSU...

Can somebody check if my submission went through? I sent it around 10 days ago. Thanks!
Apologies, looking into it. We definitely received it, though. We definitely have received plenty of code busters submissions;P.

We have gotten going and already have some submissions, please keep them coming! Also, if you have any questions, feel free to reply, etc as forever said. Looking forward to seeing what everyone works on this summer:).

Re: Test Exchanges/Resources

Funny thing that you've mentioned private exchanges. If you have friends on teams from other states (such as people you met at an invitational tournament), you could ask them to trade resources like notes and tryout tests, as well as swap advice on your events, especially tips and tricks for build ...

Re: Replaying Events for 2021

...At the very least, states should look into running trial events that don't count toward team scores more. New events aren't just added, they are trialed out first, and we will get new events faster, and push our knowledge of science further with a broader event list. As it is now, WI NJ and TX d...

Re: Astronomy C

Hmm, I'm not sure, for me the mathematics within a lot of astronomy was intuitive, but that was probably due to my mathematical-physics-chemistry background (I mean, logs don't seem that bad when you're dealing with integrals and third derivatives). ... Eh, 10th grade me struggled with trig and suc...

Re: Astronomy C

Thanks to all of you, I am taking astronomy because I love it. I'm not one of those people who just do science olympiad for college applications. I plan to major in astronomy in fact. I took Reach for the Stars in Division B, and did really well in it because I was good at memorizing the informatio...

Re: Replaying Events for 2021

With the rules being the same, is there a way to start the SSSS in like April? My life gets really boring without Scioly, and I really don't have the motivation to grind my events without a competition in the next ~150 days. I've resorted to writing bits and pieces of tests. It's really a struggle ...

Re: Replaying Events for 2021

Haven't even thought about that... smaller, lesser well run invitationals and regionals will tend to reuse tests even when the rules are not replayed. I can see this being a huge issue if the current rules are kept. Even some states reuse some tests when the events remain the same. Eh, I'd say that...

Re: Replaying Events for 2021

Since I don't think this has been exactly said...my perspective as a test writer. I figure many states will likely hold onto tests for next year, but that's not really a big issue unless they get leaked somehow(?). Most people don't get anywhere close to perfect on most tests I've seen...EXCEPT mayb...
