Re: New York 2024
Seems the thread is less active this year? Hopefully a good thing (as opposed to controversies of year's past)...nevertheless, I will be around this weekend for States C with some eclipse glasses to hand out:). Good luck and safe travels all around!!! WAIT were you the person handing out eclipse gl...

Re: Astronomy C
I know in the wiki it says you can use either laptop or a binder but what do people usually use? What's more popular, especially among the more experienced teams? Is using a laptop one of those things which are very tempting at first but you learn is a rookie mistake, or do people actually use it? ...

Re: Scioly Purity Test
I got 40ish. Maybe a few I could be a bit more or less generous with (I teccchhnically count participating in virtual competition because I proctored and graded for a few...that counts I'm sure!). Felt should be higher a bit, but whatever, such is the life.

Re: Astronomy C
Any predictions for next year's topic rotation? I'm guessing something along the lines of supernovae and their remnants (black holes, neutron stars, etc) because a) they're cool and b) the SOINC gods seem to like them: https://scioly.org/wiki/index.php/Astronomy#Topics . ...Personally, I'd really e...

Re: New York 2022
I believe it's one of those couple times a year I post...Late since I sadly didn't get to be there or too involved with states this year because of some personal matters, but I did still write the astro test this year. I didn't get any messages yesterday, so I just hope the competition went well for...

Re: Astronomy C
Would keeping up with astronomy current events be a decent way to predict DSOs? I've only done this event last year and this year so I've had roughly the same set twice. I should probably let others post but eh, on here anyway. Hello fellow astronomy person! A little insight that DSOs are...somewha...

Re: Summer Study Science Olympiad
Hi, I spoke with the person in charge of the Science Olympiad team at my step son's school and he said that packets of information to study and try out don't go out until the school year starts this coming fall. Is there a way for him to study over the summer? I wasn't sure what all he needs to cov...

Re: New York 2021
Good luck to everyone tomorrow! Be proud of all your hard work this season! I'll miss seeing you guys, but it'll still be fun to unite over science once more. :D :geek:  <3 Special thank you to the NYSSO officials who made sure this season happened despite COVID! Same good luck to everyone co...

Re: Opportunities
Oh, as I am messing with stuff, I also came upon https://www.soinc.org/officials/event-supervisors again. I'm not sure if we have a wiki page on it as well? I think we might for some events. Astro at least has had multiple webinars on this;D. Admittedly, the rarer but tougher parts of the job I'm un...
