Re: Designs B/C

How do you deal with/solve a torque issue? My bridge design's angled legs (the 'ladder parts') are twisting. They aren't breaking perpendicularly or parallel to the actual compression pieces, but they pieces twist and the truss snaps. I'm not sure what to do for that :/ diagonal x-members between c...

Re: Designs B/C

Will there be a wiki for bridge building itself? There is one for elevated bridge (the bridge building one redirects there), but it's not very specific IMO. Bridge building is not my forte, my strengths lie greater with towers and boomilever.

Re: Illinois 2015

Hey guys! I can't wait for this year to start! Does anyone know why state is from the 17th to 18th? Are there events on the Friday? Usually just the Saturday date is provided.

Re: Scrambler C

Hows a curved track relate to electronics?
Well it's not but IMO it's a bit easier to be consistent (not leaving kinetic energy reliability up to chance)

Re: Scrambler C

That'd be interesting as a concept of the Battery Buggy runs, but I'm not sure if it'll be the case due to the fact that there is no electronic component.

Re: Scores B/C

Are these scores achieved with bridges in compliance with the official rules? I know that the rules officially came out 4 days ago, but I still haven't seen them yet. To anyone who's seen them, are they pretty much the same as this one? http://soinc.org/sites/default/files/uploaded_files/Bridge2015...

Re: Scores B/C

What would be a good score (top 5) for division C at nationals?

EDIT: I understand this depends on a lot of variables, but assuming there are similar rules to the past but Div. C has to span, say 45 cm.

Re: Boomilever B/C

Probably different sizes, and no cross section limits. Other than that I doubt they'll make a lot of changes. As always, the best advice is just to build anything bridge related over the summer and get a feel for what techniques you'll need for construction (jigs, cross members, sizes, etc), that w...

Re: Scrambler C

Right, which is why I was wondering if there was anywhere I could file a request to have this considered when making the rules for next year?
