Re: Entomology B/C
I'm not sure where excretory would fall in those categories, but you should know it...just a general question, where are the "ears" of insects? This was on my test and I wasn't sure because I know grasshoppers have them on their legs, but it asked about all insects...and it asked for a sp...

Re: Entomology B/C ID/Question Marathon
Just a quick question, but if meloidae secrete cantharidin, why do soldier beetles have the scientific name of cantharidae?
Edit : looked it up, apparently soldier beetles also secrete it, so nevermind

Re: Entomology B/C ID/Question Marathon
Since no one else is posting, I guess I will!
As usual, order and family. But also answer the following questions:
1) what type of legs do they have?
2) what are their "ears"?

Re: Entomology B/C
Well, at least you knew the anatomy! :) identification just takes a while to get, and at most competitions, you can't rely on the book because they're timed stations. We had two minutes per station and even that got kind of hard once you got behind like we did because of the anatomy. We also had to ...

You probably need to know that stuff for nationals though, I'm guessing, because it is on the event manual shee...

Re: Entomology B/C
Haha, I wish we didn't have to know them either! I'll work on that, though my regionals are on Saturday so I better figure it out soon! Also, we're allowed to have computer pictures on the cheat sheet right? Because one year in forestry everyone's cheat sheet was taken away because apparently you co...
