Re: Experimental Design B/C

How do you operationally define a varible? This was the most common error I saw when I supervised this event last week, and not one team got any points for it. To operationally define something is to explain what PRECISELY you mean when you identify the variable. So say you're doing the "height of ...

Re: Experimental Design B/C

What does it mean on the rubric where it says "At least three levels of IV given?" Also, I read the wiki, but I still don't really understand the analysis part in general. How exactly are you supposed to discuss your data? This means that You have to test with three diffferent strenghts 0f the IV. ...

Re: Forestry B/C

Can anyone give some examples of recent forestry events that we might be asked about at regionals? Thanks!
We got a lot of questions about what the wood of certain trees are used for and diseases/parasites certain trees get.

Re: Forestry B/C

What are some good ways to study for this event? I'm working on flash cards right now, but are there any others that you can think of?
I read my field guides. I find that I then remember what I read during the test.

Re: Forestry B/C

Can somebody scan and post the rules somewhere, because I don't think Florida has gotten them yet. Or is there some sort of copyright restriction? The only things I know about the changes to the rules are from what's posted here. >.< My coach keeps asking for the rules but we're not getting them fo...

Re: Forestry B/C

Is it me or are the rules a lot more vague this year? Also, NO TREE LIST! explanation someone?
That's exactly what I thought! I wish we could bring it, but I think that they were generous as far as resources last year.

Re: Awesome Aquifers B

Anyone have a fool-proof way of insuring that the well pumps water (in your mini-aquifer)? Mine didn't work last time infront of the judges, but I just said it was beacause groundwater moves slowly.... Also, anyone know where to find good groundwater maps? They had some at regionals and I want to p...
