Re: Sounds of Music B
I know that being in Div C, I can't participate in this event, but out of curiosity has anyone seen a homemade Tuba? I haven't seen that, but we made a variation on a natural trumpet this year - a natural slide trumpet. They were called Renaissance slide trumpets and existed in the late 14th centur...

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C
I just received a response from sonic.org to my concern listed above and the response was "They must be Pyrex glass." I received the email March 11 4:49pm if that is helpful. FAQ has not yet posted the response they gave me. This is very confusing and needs to be addressed. Thank you!!!!!...

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C
Regarding impounding the calculators, I thought it'd be helpful to publicly post some thoughts I've already privately provided to various people. Please note all of this is of course just my opinion and not the official position of SO: Thanks for the clarification. I agree the rules only called out...

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C
We didn't have to impoud our calculator so I don't think it's required. Also, you're allowed to bring any type of calculator, I don't know why they would need to impound it. We've never had our calculators impounded either, but the 2/17/13 FAQ posting - http://soinc.org/node/263 - says this: (secti...

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C
Quick question about the calculator impound FAQ clarification - what's the reason for having the calculators impounded? We've never had to have them impounded before (exceptions for us were goggles and calculator), since the kids normally have to use them in multiple events. We require our kids to b...

Re: Sounds of Music B
I've sent in a rules clarification to the national site, but does anyone know offhand if piano/music wire is okay? It seems like it should fall under the "strings (instrument or others) of any type are permitted" guidelines.
Thanks!
