Re: Air Trajectory B/C

Hey Bernard, do you mind if we use the templates for the graphs? Do you want us to just mimic what you have or can we actually use the excel file? It looks pretty awesome XD

Re: Bungee Drop C

I have a question. My partner and I have been wondering how the Acton sheet containing the formula is better than just using the formulas for conversion from potential to kinetic. For some reason, when we use the PE to KE we are always off by like 40 cm. Initially, we thought that it might be becaus...

Re: Air Trajectory B/C

Some FAQs have been posted in response to some of the questions I submitted: Can teams impound multiple masses and use different masses for each launch given the masses are less than the maximum mass allowed? (section: 3 / paragraph: a / line: 1-2) Per 3.a. more than one mass may be impounded, but ...

Re: It's About Time C

Well, I mean in all the competitions, the event supervisor always plays the sounds before hand to show the students what it will be like. I dont think there will be too many people who are going to be confused. I was also interested why there is only 3 beeps in the beginning: people usually count do...

Re: It's About Time C

I really do think that the soundtrack for the testing should also contain warning beeps for the end as well. The event is to test the clock the students made, and the reaction time shouldn't play such a significant problem for the students. For the 10-300 sec one, I have to stand there concentrated ...

Re: Air Trajectory B/C

Out of curiosity, is the anyone who is able to shoot a racquetball far enough? Based on my calculations, with a machine that has like a 10% efficiency, (which is normal) you should be able to shoot up to like 15m...

Re: Bungee Drop C

What do you guys think a good range for safety is at a competition? We use like 8 cm since temperature and stuff like that can affect everything. Also, we are using springs and we are getting really good results, but I have not seen a single team other than us use them. Any ideas why springs are bad?

Re: Bungee Drop C

Hey guys, So I was wondering about any sorts of dampening mechanisms that could be used. We have been asking for rule clarifications on the national and state website, but neither have replied. What is your take on this: using parachutes to slow the fall and hence lowering the standard deviation of ...

Re: MagLev C

I have been pouring over the rules recently and it doesn't expressly say anything involving electromagnets, just rare-earth magnets; but after questioning a Maglev alumni, she told me that electromagnets are illegal. Am I derping horribly and missing a large part on the rule sheet or are they legal...

Re: Keep the Heat B/Thermodynamics C

No, the graph shouldn't be linear and should be logarithmic. I got the formula and used it for years. The closer the temperature of the water gets to room temerature, the slower it will cool down, until it will just stop cooling completely. But the fromula has a lot of undetermined variables that yo...
