Re: Simple Machines B/Compound Machines C Question Marathon
I'm not so sure about this but I'll give it a shot... Answer|IMA = (Force out of the machine)/(Force into the machine). So for this scenario, the Force into the machine would be 9N, I think. And the Force out of the machine would be 10kg * 9.8m/s/s = 98N. Therefore, the IMA = 98N/9N = 10.89? I feel...

Suppose that the pulley in the below image is connected to something weighing 10 kg, and I need to pull on it with 9 N of force to hold it up. What's the efficiency?

Re: Bad Science Jokes
But 'fungi' is plural... Anyway I once did a stand up comedy routine for a chemistry-themed keynote (the other guys were waiting a few minutes for a reaction). I usually tell physics and math jokes, but I tell chem jokes periodically. What was the result of potassium's and oxygen's boxing match? Dou...

It's probably so they can be a little more precise with their scoring, so they don't have to, say, take off a whole point from a 2 pointer when there was really just a minor error.

Re: Technical Problem Solving C
Exactly what my team's doing. I think this year I might just start over with the thermo notes, with a huge emphasis on formulas, conversion factors, technical/mathy stuff like that with a little bit of vocab, and largely ignoring history, theories, general ideas, etc. How bout Electrochem? Anyone fi...

Re: Dynamic Planet B/C
Hey, DP newbie here. The local library has tons of amazing resources, especially textbooks, and I'll be going down there for the next week or so finding good textbooks for studying (also this is Nevada, which is obsessed with mining, so lots of geology info). Do you guys have any recommendations as ...

Re: Technical Problem Solving C
Where do you guys think TPS and last year's Thermo will intersect and diverge? For example Thermo never went into Newton's Law of Cooling, while TPS is extremely unlikely to pull some history of thermodynamics questions. Just trying to figure out how to alter our team's Thermo notes from last year.

Re: Worst books
If that counts, then mine would have to be Campell and Reece's Biology. UGH BIO.
