This may sound like a very stupid question, but how do you ID DSO's? Like based on the color/shape? Because pictures can be taken at different angles using X-Ray, Optical, Infared, and Radio telescopes. Thanks so much in advance. c:

1. Lodgepole Pine 2. Is it because it's used to build lodges? 3. Mountains. Like it's a western tree.

Are there any tricks & tips for IDing the Pines? I know the basics like Douglas-fir has the tiny "mice" above each scale and Jack Pines are J-shaped. What about the others like Red Spruce Virginia Pine, etc? Also I'm having a really hard time IDing based on only the needles. :P Thanks ...
