Re: Robo-Cross B

Can more than one person operate the robot? Because I just got a VEX kit, and we were thinking about making attachments. So can my partner and I operate it at the same time?? Thanks...

Re: Robo-Cross B

My team may not be doing Robo-Cross at one of our invites, because we don't have anything to build with. But I was thinking,(if anyone knows what Lego Mindstorms is) I will use Lego Mindstorms and just use Bluetooth to connect one of my tablets/laptop to the robot I build. I've tested it out and it ...

Re: Rotor Egg Drop B

Just a thought, what is everyone using to make their blades? The lightest material I've found are those carbon wires and balsa wood. I'm currently using balsa wood. Any other lighter materials?

Re: Metric Mastery B

I just take whatever's next to me and weigh it. I have a pretty long list going right now...the more you measure and weigh, the better prepared you will be.

Oh, and just a question, we're not allowed to touch ANYTHING during the competition right? This is my first year doing Metric.

Thanks

Re: Entomology B/C

How do you guys tell apart Apidae (Bees) and Bombyliidae (Bee fly)?
I read in the Audubon Field Guide that Bombyliidae have longer legs than Apidae...I guess you'll have to look real closely.

Re: Rotor Egg Drop B

Make a device using balsa wood. For the wings, use balsa wood as well, but cover the wings using clear plastic wrap. It's light, and durable.

30 Orders and 100 Families. You can print out the list on the Science Olympiad website.

Re: Robo-Cross B

Same here! I participate in another program (not Science Olympiad) called FLL, which stands for First Lego League. So you basically build robots and make them complete certain missions, so I think this will be pretty similar to that. :D Sounds good...

Re: Food Science B

The national Food Science test did ask kid to bake a cup cake which took 30 minutes.
They don't make you bake a cupcake at your States did they?
I know the rules and requirements might be different in your state than mine.
They didn't make us bake in NorCal.
