Re: Bottle Rocket B

We placed 2nd at regionals with a combined time of 26 seconds. Winds were strong, and one landed on a roof nearby which lessened the time. Weather factors will always play big in this event if it is not still!

Re: Air Trajectory B/C

It's actually quite prominent: In the printed manuals, at the TOP OF EVERY PAGE, in bold text it says "Read the General Rules in the manual and on www.soinc.org as they apply to every event." The same happens in the mobile app manuals, but appears at the BOTTOM OF EVERY PAGE. I just want to express...

Re: Air Trajectory B/C

Out of curiosity, is the anyone who is able to shoot a racquetball far enough? Based on my calculations, with a machine that has like a 10% efficiency, (which is normal) you should be able to shoot up to like 15m... we have succeeded is shooting our racquetball up to 12 meters consistently. A tight...

Re: Air Trajectory B/C

Has anyone had much luck with the racquetballs and practice golf balls? I've almost entirely seen people using ping pong balls, but they have a really poor flight pattern and tend to curve in the air. Practice golf balls don't fit well in any of the pvc tubes I've tested them with, anyone have luck...

Re: Air Trajectory B/C

A bike pump will hardly work, because you will need a larger amount of air moving faster than the that type of cylinder will provide to project the ball the needed distance.

Re: Wheeled Vehicle B

I'm assuming that parts of the vehicle can extend behind the back wheels. It specifically mentions that nothing can extend out the front, and their is no height restriction.

Re: Air Trajectory B/C

Regarding the inclusion of the weight of the piston in the total weight that falls: We have the weight dropping most of the distance, down a 4" PVC pipe, onto a fairly light piston which is positioned 6" above the bottom. A small rubber strap easily holds the piston up, and returns it to its former ...

Re: Air Trajectory B/C

Can someone clarify the shots we have? Is it one long and one short, and then also the option for a bucket shot?

Re: Bottle Rocket B

I don't see any restrictions on length of the rocket. Am I correct on that?
