Re: State Tournament Results
Rarely ever does a team win by 1 point Speaking of which, how did that come about? Did your team demand a recount or something? At first they said fossil won... I'm a bit fuzzy about what happened... :? Yes, the tournament ended with Fossil Ridge in first place. A few schools requested some of the ...

Re: Elastic Launched Glider B
So ive been having some trouble with the glider. It will coast across a room, but when launched up into the air it always just falls most of the way to the ground before it resumes gliding. My best time is like 4 seconds. Any ideas? Here are some tips. First, find the smallest width rubber band you...

Re: Write It Do It B/C
Hmmm - I figured that each piece could be worth more than a point (so that you could differentiate teams by score easier). While you are correct, the rubrics do account for many aspects however, at nationals they tend to have tests that are very hard to complete in time. (not just WIDI) In the past...

What were the scores of the winners? (I guess I should just be patient and wait for it to hit the state site, eh?)
I don't worry about scores so i did not grab the sheet.
The results will be posted tonight or tomorrow

Re: Elastic Launched Glider C
It seems that our canard gliders have a much smaller "sweet spot," and require a near-perfect launch angle and bank for a proper transition....Also, has anyone experienced significant launch differences based on different positions of the launch hook? Canards are inherently longitudinally...

Re: Elastic Launched Glider C
In regards to the "bubble" glider design. Has anybody ever heard of this glider and does anyone know where to find the schematics for it. Also what classifies a glider as canard. From the soinc.org FAQ: "01/01/2014 - 20:38 What are the exact specifications needed for a glider to be c...

Rule 3, i. prohibits integrated circuits.
Is that just ICs or did they mean all semi-conductors?

Canard? "a small winglike projection attached to an aircraft forward of the main wing to provide extra stability or control, sometimes replacing the tail" A control canard is nothing more then two small wings near the nose of the plane. So technically last year anyone that had a wide horiz...

Re: MagLev C
The rich teams had a huge advantage and the teams with smaller budgets were kind of stuck. Stuck how? Winning comes down to who looks at the problem and comes up with the best solution. Then works hard at implementing that solution. When you start out thinking that you can't win because of some rea...
