Re: A quesiton on ethics.

I had initially decided I wouldn't respond to this, but I figure it would be helpful to clarify. Please note that this shouldn't be interpreted as reflecting the views of any other person, etc. I signed up to volunteer when an email was sent out talking about a lack of manpower for the tournament, a...

Re: Cornell Invitational 2016

Thank you to the volunteers that helped make the Cornell tournament possible. This was likely the best-run tournament I've attended - on par with or even better than MIT! I felt this tournament had many small, but appreciable improvements like: - Giving each team a labelled flash drive for Game On, ...

Re: Robot Arm C

Thanks for the responses everyone. One more question though - does this mean a laptop cannot be connected to the arm during the run? I have my controller connected to the USB port of the laptop, and the arduino connected to the laptop (purely for the purposes of getting the controller input and not ...

Re: Robot Arm C

So the rules state "All energy storage devices must be contained in the Device, power supply, or controller(s)."

Does this mean it would be illegal to use a power supply that plugs into a standard wall socket? I have a fairly nice, constant voltage plugin power supply I'd rather use over a battery.

That's correct - it happened to be a very good year for LASA http://scioly.org/wiki/images/2/24/C_State_2009.pdf

Re: Texas 2016

It's a shame there are no December invitationals - makes it a bit difficult to form teams early. For that reason I'm sure if there was one, it'd probably be extremely popular among teams...

Re: Texas 2016

Any knowledge of any invitationals in November or December this year? As far as I can see, the only Division C fall invitational this year is Cyfalls.

Re: Highest Scores this Year

Interesting to hear. For comparison, our final score was 1096.2 with the 50 point ETS penalty, which got us 5th.

3. The arbitration committee believes strongly in the idea that as long as it's within the spirit of the event and not explicitly forbidden, it's allowed. Over the years I've seen NUMEROUS event supervisors get upset at them for not ruling based upon their 'intention of the rules' versus what is ac...
