Re: Plane stalling after launch
Hello! We are currently using the J&H aerospace Stinger, and we've been noticing that our plane turns nose up quickly after we release it, climbs 4-5ft almost straight up, and stalls, and after stalling two or three times and not gaining altitude, it then flies relatively flat. However, the lat...

Re: Flight B/C
So our kids' plane seems to like somewhere between .057-.062 g/in 3/32 rubber. We are still dialing in density based on the different props we are trying. The problem is we are not finding the right density in our remaining batch. We have a 1/4 box of FAI Tan Supersport 3/32 and started from one en...

Re: Torque Calculation for a particular motor
Hello! I didn’t see a topic about torque meter construction, so I’m posting this question here if that’s okay. I’m following Coach Chuck’s torque meter construction video (using 12” long, 1 and 1/8” wide, 1/8” thick stir sticks), and I accidentally made my face-plates rectangular. I thought the wid...

Re: Non-kit plans
Hello, sorry to bother! I'm sure how this site works and I'm very new to this, but I had a question about this specific build (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mbxba3g1hMU&t=223s) or the Super Simple Airplane Build for 23-24 "Flight" Event Division B modified as division c (following t...

Re: Flight B/C
Thanks!!! My circle size is <20ft when climbing(60' wide venue with heavy drift) and a little over 20ft(maybe 23?) when flying with low torque. I do have low prop pitch but my plane climbs way too fast. I still can't figure out whether it's due to updrafts and hot air in the gym I'm flying in, but ...

Re: Increase flight time
Coach Brian Thanks for the calculation on RPS we will take more readings this week with half motors and count winds and winds remainder in addition to torque. For the half motors - one O ring is around 0.04 gms, so we take that and then include it when we cut the motor to 0.75 grams. We created a p...

Re: Flight B/C
Cat, If you only getting 2-3 ft drop on small hits with blowers on, your pitch stability is pretty good. So, CG and decalage are probably fine. Other trim for blowers would be: smallish flight circle (22-23 ft) to keep further from walls/obstructions, slightly low prop pitch to fly faster and cut th...

Re: Flight B/C
So my kids have one more set of materials from a kit to make one more plane. We already have a decent plane that is minimum weight and doesn't have any serious damage or warps or whatnot as far as we can tell. So I'm not sure what the benefit would be to making another, except it looks like Helicop...

Re: Increase flight time
Coach Brian and Coach Chuck Thanks for the tips on winding and removal of one O ring from the half motor. We will do that on the next round of testing. Our current data is as follows: Motor. Length 5.5 inches X 2; Weight including two O rings 0.75 gm. Using the online calculator with 3/32 it says w...
