Re: Transport

How do you guys handle transportation of builds? E.g. do you all go in a bus, or do you ship your builds and fly to the competition?

Transport

Hey,

Last year's nationals was in Florida and was (relatively) easier to travel to from NJ, but next year's WISCONSIN.

Now obviously some teams have to travel across coasts every year, so how do you guys manage it without making it astronomically expensive?

Re: Events 2015-2016?

Yeah, the event definitely needs a little restructuring, I believe.

Who's excited for the robot event for div. C? I know I am :D

Re: Events 2015-2016?

I don't think Game On would be a good event (I'm not biased against it, in fact I might've gotten a medal last year for the event if not for some strange circumstances.) Not for the reason that it's not a good representation of computer science, but because of the severe subjectivity in scoring. I f...

Re: Scrambler C

The work done on the car is exactly the same, but it is applied over a much shorter distance, resulting in a larger force being applied to the car (and thus greater speed). The distance is shorter since, rather than pulling the string across ~2m, the force is exerted by the displacement of the sprin...

Re: Designs

That said, I'm pretty confident that the prohibition on IC's wasn't intended to apply to small piezo buzzers with integrated drivers for use in the final task. Someone should submit a FAQ about this when they open next month... hint hint;) I have a stack of about 200 greeting cards my dad bought on...

Re: Designs

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in order to activate a buzzer, the buzzer needs to have a sound wave to play. Now, to generate such a wave, you'd either have to use integrated circuits or have a pretty good knowledge of how to use an RC circuit to generate such a wave, right? Is the restriction of inte...

Re: Designs

So what's the structure of the event this year? E.g. how have the tasks changed?
