Re: What Is a Good Number of Events?

People on my team do anywhere from 2-4. We try not to have the people who do one event (especially seniors, with the 7 seniors on a C team limit). This being my third year as team captain, somehow I ended the year with 7 events, (3 builds, a lab event and 3 study). I can't tell you how I did it, but...

Re: Illinois 2016

Does anyone have results from the invitationals from this past weekend?

Also, why aren't any results being posted on Avogadro this year?
I've got results from Crystal Lake, and been wondering the same thing about Avogadro.

Re: Air Trajectory B/C

Ya ping pong balls are the way to go if you want consistency

Be wary at first of ping pong balls, though. They're super light, so if they spin too much when launched, you can see them spin left/right on some of the farther shots.

Re: Lasers

I considered using a laser for this event, but there is no target/reference point/line. For example, in electric vehicle you always have an 8.5 meter a .5 meter line and the target point, but in this event you only have tb e target point, which will be surrounded by sand so I doubt the ES will let ...

Re: Bridge Building 2016

I see where you are coming from, and yes, as the span decreases, the angle of the bridge increases... depending on how you design your bridge... In theory, you could design an elevated bridge, then chop off the elevated legs on one side... In that case, there is no angle due to the elevation change...

Re: Graphs

I would like to clarify a question about Graphs that need to be submitted for this competition. I have data for 4 different launch angles and 8 different drop heights. I kept the drop weight constant. I can graph drop height Vs range for each angle as its own graph. That would give me 4 graphs for ...

Re: Scores

At our first tournament this past year, we used the same design as last year. Last year our design had an efficiency ~500. It weighed 16g and held roughly half of the weight. We used heavier bass for the first competition this year (actually on accident) and it weighed 21g but held all of the weight...
